In The Gin Game, Weller Martin (Jones) and Fonsia Dorsey (Tyson) meet on the porch of their nursing home, become acquainted, and develop a friendship as Weller teaches Fonsia how to play gin rummy. As they play, they share stories about their former lives before they entered the nursing home. But Weller, who is a better teacher of gin rummy than player, starts to lose every hand to his pupil, Fonsia, and as this occurs he becomes more and more frustrated. Suddenly their gin games and conversations become a battleground, with each player bent on exposing the other’s failures, regrets, and insecurities.SYNOPSIS
