The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, an adaptation by Simon Stephens of the popular mystery novel of the same name by Mark Haddon, which first opened at the National Theatre in London in 2012 and has enjoyed great success, occupies Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre starting in the Fall 2014. This is a mystery unlike any other and Stephens, who is well known for his translations of Chekhov and Ibsen, as well as his original plays, offers a vivid stage adaptation of this tale.

In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Christopher, a 15-year-old boy, who may have a high functioning form of autism or Asperger’s, possesses a powerful level of intelligence. However, he does not have the skills needed to interpret or navigate many of the challenges that occupy his daily life. His advanced level of thinking comes into play when he comes under suspicion in the killing of his neighbor’s dog. Christopher decides that he will unmask the true murderer.
