In The Real Thing, Henry is a playwright married to Charlotte, an actress. Charlotte is playing the lead in her husband’s new play, which focuses on a marriage that is about to completely fall apart. In real life, Henry’s is in an unhappy marriage and having a romantic romp with Annie. Henry has to wonder if this affair with Annie is “the real thing?” The affair he is having has blown out of control, as Annie leaves her husband so she and Henry can start a new life together, and Henry’s marriage stands in utter ruins. As Henry’s relationship with Annie develops, he finds himself caught up in a world that is filled with doubt and uncertainty.SYNOPSIS
