One of the funniest musical, romantic comedies is returning to the stage this month! She Loves Me has been running previews since February 19th and will officially open on Saint Patrick’s Day! The show stars Laura Benanti as Amalia, Zachary Levi as Georg, Jane Krakowski as Ilona, and Gavin Creel as Kodaly. This talented and hilarious group of characters is sure to make a production worth seeing.
The Original Knee-Slapper
She Loves Me was originally written in 1963 by Joe Masteroff (Book), Sheldon Harnick (Lyrics), and Jerry Brock (Music). Georg is a shy manager in Budapest at Maraczek’s Parfumerie who receives love letters from an admirer. Amalia gets a job at the Parfumerie and quickly becomes Georg’s least favorite person to work with. However, they both seem to have romantic pen pals sending them letters… Barbara Cook, Daniel Massey, Barbara Baxley, and Jack Cassidy were among the original cast of this show in ‘63. Like the Tom Hanks/ Meg Ryan romantic comedy, You’ve Got Mail, this storyline has influenced many other spin-offs. This particular telling of confused love is filled with vitality and plot twists!
Hilarity Even Before Opening Night
The Broadway Channel recently shared a clip from a night of interviews and performances by the cast of She Loves Me. Jane Krakowski performed bits of music from the show in her type-cast guise as a sexy thirty something, Gavin Creel showed off his charm as a ladies’ man, while Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi goofed around as themselves in front of the cameras. If these clips are an insight into the iceberg that is She Loves Me, Broadway is in for an amazing revival!
We wish the cast of She Loves Me an incredible opening night this month! Hopefully, the luck of the Irish is behind them for opening on March 17th! Follow us here at All Tickets Inc. for more info on your favorite revivals, new box office hits, and discounts on group tickets!
