Hand to God

Hand to God, the darkly comedic play about a demonic sock puppet, offers a lot of irreverent laughs as the lead character, Jason is forced to participate in his church’s puppet pageant play and finds that his puppet Tyrone, who occupies his left hand, is a foul-mouthed, sinister soul. Steven Boyer’s performance of Jason/Tyrone is brilliantly funny while also being deeply disturbing. Where does the darkness really dwell: in Jason or Tyrone?

  • SYNOPSIS

    In Hand to God, Christian Puppet Ministries, a good-hearted, church-based organization, offers a wonderful way to teach kids about the bible. That is through puppets. In this play, where every child in the ministry located in Cypress, Texas, gets a puppet, each puppet seems to develop its own personality. Things seem fine until one puppet, Tyrone, takes on a devilish personality. The people of Cypress, Texas, were good Christians. That is until this one day at Puppet Ministry when a boy named Jason and his puppet Tyrone, let the devil in. This is their hilarious story.
