In The Audience, playwright Morgan offers us a fascinating view of Queen Elizabeth II and her weekly meetings and relationships with Great Britain’s Prime Ministers. For 60 years, Elizabeth II has met each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace. The content of these meetings, which are unique and private, has never been discussed with anyone, including the spouses of the participants. Playwright Morgan gives us his imaginative and creative interpretations and of these private events by offering scenes depicting a series of pivotal meetings between the Downing Street incumbents and their Queen. Passionate, dramatic, humorous, explosive, The Audience is a stunning piece of theatre.SYNOPSIS
