The Book of Mormon is the nine times 2011 Tony Award winner! Done in the style that has made Broadway musicals legendary—big, boisterous and outrageous. The Mormon religion, as the creators of the musical have noted, has a built-in coming of age story as Mormon children are expected to go on a mission when they reach the age of 18. Tony nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone) directs what is sure to be an unrepentant evening of gut-splitting comedy and witty musical numbers.

The new musical The Book of Mormon focuses on two mismatched missionaries from Salt Lake City who venture to Uganda to spread ‘the word.” They are, in essence, two 18-year-old kids who don’t know each other and now must support one another in a land that is about as foreign to Salt Lake City as a land can be. They try to bring “the word” to a people who are battling poverty, AIDs and war. The young man and woman find themselves exceptionally challenged when they must utilize their religion, which has handily solved their problems at home, to solve the problems of the people with whom they interact. As these two worlds collide, the main characters discover they are unable to use their religious lessons and they eventually discover they are up to their armpits in proverbial and allegorical alligators. The result is spontaneous hilarity.SYNOPSIS

- If you find comedy divine, then your attendance at The Book of Mormon may be a near-religious experience. The story of this couple of zealots is told in conjunction with the tale of the founder of the Church of Latter-day Saints, Joseph Smith.
