If there’s ever a show that always seems to be ripe for a revival, it’s the musical Chicago. And why wouldn’t it be immensely popular? Along with offering audiences strikingly theatrical music and lyrics, the emotional rollercoaster, Chicago is dark, satirical and at times amazingly cold-hearted. Then again, the story of a married woman who murders her lover in order to help her career would have to have all of these elements and more. Chicago is one of the finest shows ever written for the legitimate stage.

Ariana Madix will make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart for an eight-week engagement, from January 29, 2024, to March 24.

    Sure being tried for murder is one way to get some public recognition and Roxe Hart, a showgirl and adulteress, does just that.  Chicago is a musical that’s brimming with vice, sexuality and greed. It takes us to the deepest and darkest parts of our hearts and, yet, manages to make us laugh and care along the way. Set in Chicago when the mob was big, this is a story about an immoral, cuttingly smart lawyer named Billy Flynn, a seemingly innocent and coy Roxie Hart and a rage-driven nightclub star named Velma Kelly who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together. Bold, bitter, sarcastic and satirical, Chicago takes every girl’s fairytale of true love and turns it into a hype-invested, tell-all tabloid.
