Here are a few to add to your list of great shows with fantastic group discounts. By the way—all three of these are written by the folks who invented the modern musical. That is, Americans
The musical Chicago by Kander and Ebb is the longest running American show to ever be produced on Broadway. This revival was mounted in 1996 and was nominated for and won eight Tonys, including Best Musical. It’s a great story about murder, passion and corruption (how American!) that’s told with a sexy, satirical edge that is simply enthralling. Get group tickets from All Tickets to Chicago and prepare to partake of an extraordinary American musical.
In 2005, Jersey Boys won the Grammy for Best Musical Album and also received four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It’s the story of
those hardscrabble guys The Four Season, who, with Frankie Valli as their front man, went to the top of the record charts. This tells the story of their rise and eventual breakup and features the group’s popular music. It’s a fantastic story about friendship, shifting allegiances and human nature. What happens to some regular guys when they are suddenly seen as being extraordinary? Jersey Boys offers insights and a whole lot of entertainment.
In a behind the scenes manner, Wicked asks the question who is Winnie Holzman? Along with writing the book for Wicked, she started
out as one of the writers of the TV show thirtysomething more than two decades ago. Along with composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, she adapted the popular novel Wicked into a mega-hit Broadway show.
This Broadway musical reveals how the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz came to be. It offers an excellent score, wonderful humor and soul searching, genuine emotions. Of course, there are some major stage effects too. In 2004, it was nominated for 11 Tonys and won Best Actress, Costume Design and Scenic Design. It won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and the cast recording received a Grammy. Wicked is a verified Broadway hit on every level.
