The Revisionist stars Academy and Tony winning actress Vanessa Redgrave as Maria and playwright Jesse Eisenberg interprets the role of David.
Synopsis
The Revisionist is a drama focusing on how the past can bring both light and darkness to the present. Maria (Vanessa Redgrave) welcomes her younger second cousin David (Jesse Eisenberg) to Poland. What starts as a visit devoted to David freeing himself from an oppressive bout with writer’s block turns into a dialogue about Maria’s complicated post-war past. What she tells David will test their familial relationship and change him forever.
Playwright Jesse Eisenberg, who many know from his Oscar-nominated role in the movie Social Network, starred last season in his play Asuncion. Vanessa Redgrave has been seen on Broadway in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Driving Miss Daisy, and The Year of Magical Thinking. The Revisionist is being produced by Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre.
