Popular stage and film actor Daniel Radcliffe returns to Broadway this season in playwright Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan. Tony-winning director Michael Grandage brings his critically acclaimed West End production of McDonagh’s play to Broadway. The show, which focuses on a young man wanting to break from the ties that bound him top the tiny island, played to sold out crowds in London last summer.

  • SYNOPSIS

    News makes its way to the remote island of Inishmaan that the glamorous world of Hollywood has arrived on the neighboring island of Inishmore. In The Cripple of Inishmaan, the titular character, Cripple Billy (Daniel Radcliffe), wants to break away from the shackles of his tedious life by being in the Hollywood film. But can he turn his dream into a reality? Can Cripple Billy free himself?

  • Radcliffe, who made his successful Broadway debut in the revival of Peter Shaffer’s Equus and later returned to the Great White Way in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011), is known internationally as the star of the Harry Potter film series. Since completing the eight Potter films, he’s starred in numerous movies, including Kill Your Darlings and The Woman in Black. Director Grandage, whose theatrical enterprise Michael Grandage Company produced an award-winning five-play season last year in London, brings the first transfer of one of his productions to the Broadway stage. The Cripple of Inishmaan will be playwright McDonagh’s first show on Broadway.
