SYNOPSIS

In Fun Home, graphic novelist Alison must deal with numerous issues and dilemmas when her enigmatic father dies unexpectedly. Alison delves deep into her past in order to tell the story of the man who defined so much of her life. Moving between present and past, she recreates her unusual childhood that included playing at the family's Bechdel Funeral Home. As she looks for answers concerning her own life and her father’s death, she investigates the man whose volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind temperament and deep secrets defined every aspect of her being. In Fun Home, she ultimately grows to understand her own sexuality and deals with the disturbing, unanswerable questions about her father's hidden desires.
