The raid on Stonewall, which was a popular underground gay bar in Greenwich Village, ignited a major riot. The Stonewall Riots, which were defined by violent protests and street demonstrations, continued for numerous days. Stonewall propelled various unlikely revolutionaries into the frontline of a movement that would change U.S. culture and politics forever.
