The Two-Character Play by Tennessee Williams features two stunning performances by Amanda Plummer (Clare) and Brad Douril (Felice). Williams’ enigmatic and semi-autobiographical play offers an experimental style more akin to the less concrete works of Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter than the poetic realism we associate with the playwright who created The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Synopsis

Clare and Felice, who are sister and brother, are two actors on tour. But how will they perform? They have been deserted by their theatre company and left in a crumbling state theatre. In a play within a play, the two actors perform The Two-Character Play, which is perhaps an illusion within an illusion. Reality and illusion blend and collide in this play that plumbs the depths of isolation and despair and the possibility of survival.
