Take the disco era and America’s fascination with disaster movies in the 1970s, and you’ve got Disaster!, a hip, hot, utterly crazy and ridiculous musical that takes you on an journey much longer than the off-shore cruise its characters are first enjoying and then regretting. It’s The Poseidon Adventure, meets Earthquake, meets The Swarm, meets Saturday Night Fever, and that makes Disaster! a triumph!

The time is 1979, and the setting is a tranquil summer night in Manhattan. The event is a happening party for A-listers celebrating the grand opening of a floating casino/disco. Everyone is ready to enjoy an amazing evening, on a boat that stays attached to a NY pier, when the ship and party guests are hit by everything but the kitchen sink, including earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos, killer bees, rats, sharks, and piranhas. Hilarity ensues, as does the music, which offers some of the biggest hits of the disco era, including “Hot Stuff,” “I Am Woman,” “Knock on Wood” and more. This musical is hot stuff. Disaster! is one great time. No need for any life preservers here, as buoyant laughter and light entertainment keep the entire evening afloat.SYNOPSIS
