In the musical’s opening song, the “corn is as high as an elephant’s eye, An’ it looks like it’s climbin’ clear up to the sky.” Which is, mighty tall considering an average African elephant is 12-feet tall, putting it’s eye at about the 10- to 11-foot mark.
