Water by the Spoonful, which is written by In the Heights writer Quiara Alegría Hudes, sees its first New York production after winning of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize. Water by the Spoonful is about a Puerto Rican war veteran who served in Iraq and his attempt to adapt to civilian life.
Synopsis
After a successful premiere at the Hartford Stage Company in October 2011, Water by the Spoonful comes to Off-Broadway. With the center of the play being a vet from the war in Iraq who returns home and tries to adjust to being home again, Water by the Spoonful offers a parallel story of four individuals who link together in an online chatroom that is devoted to recovering drug addicts. The vet must somehow live in his new world while he grapples with demons and horrors from the war in Iraq. Water by the Spoonful is immensely dramatic, deeply moving and brutally honest.
