  • SYNOPSIS

Newsies, with music by Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by Tony Award-winning Harvey Fierstein, focuses on the injustices that workers, especially children, faced at the turn of the century in the U.S.
The young paperboys, better known as “newsies” back then, are moved to fight for their rights and take on the massive newspaper establishment in New York City. Seemingly powerless, they find strength in their solidarity and triumph.
Newsies, which is directed by Jeff Calhoun, features numerous crowd pleasing tunes including “Sante Fe,” “Seize the Day” and “King of New York.”
