  • SYNOPSIS

The musical drama Allegiance presents the story of one Japanese-American family and the challenges they faced during World War II. Set during the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the musical begins with a meeting between a young, inquisitive reporter and WWII veteran Sam Otsuka (George Takei). The reporter challenges and pushes Otsuka to remember the time when his family was forced to leave their California farm to live in the Heart Mountain internment camp. It was a time defined by confusion, extreme emotions, and unforgiving hardships as young Sam and his sister Kei find that they are torn between allegiance to the U.S.A. and fidelity to their family and traditional beliefs.
