A Night with Janis Joplin comes to Broadway after numerous successful regional productions. Janis Joplin reigned as the Queen of Rock n’ Roll for three short, turbulent years and helped defined the ‘60s, create the Woodstock generation, and redefine the role of women in rock. She was controversial, out there, and a trip-and-a-half. Joplin’s influence was far-reaching and her hits, including “Me and Bobby McGee,” are timeless rock and roll masterpieces.  A Night with Janis Joplin takes us on a musical journey that is powerful, celebratory and moving.

After critically acclaimed productions at Arena Stage, the Cleveland Playhouse, the Pasadena Playhouse and many other venues, A Night with Janis Joplin rocks the Lyceum Theatre in New York. Reprising the role of Joplin will be Mary Bridget Davies. Davies has been honored for her performance, winning the 2013 Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical and being nominated for a 2013 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Resident Musical. In A Night with Janis Joplin, you’ll feel the prodigious emotions, see the enigmatic character and hear the unique vocal interpretations that made Joplin so famous. The late ‘60s Queen of Rock n’ Roll attracted fans by the droves. Her rough, passionate performances, drug and alcohol laced lifestyle and powerful sexuality defined her on and off stage. Tough, vulnerable, honest and frightened, Joplin was a complex mixture of elements that made her uniquely interesting.
