Wouldn’t you love to know the Wicked Witch of the West’s backstory? And what about Glinda? How did she come to be so good? Wicked considers both of these questions and more as it reshapes our understanding of what goes down in the Wizard of Oz. This highly imaginative musical features a fine book by Winnie Holzman and music and lyrics by one of Broadway’s most accomplished composers, Stephen Schwartz. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked will fill you with wonder as it takes you down a path much different than that of the Yellow Brick Road.

  • SYNOPSIS

    Elphaba, who one day will be the Wicked Witch of the West, is green skinned from the time she’s a child. Wicked traces her life from her early years, through her friendship with Glinda and through college to a time of political activism. Elphaba is committed to righting wrongs from the past and fighting for justice. Her story is told with verve and panache. Through Wicked we meet a very troubled and haunted Wizard of Oz, a rich and spoiled Glinda and a handsome as all heck, hunk of a prince named Fiyero. By the way, if you love The Wizard of Oz, you’ll greatly appreciate the respect and reverence that this production has for the original.
