There are some special performances that you won’t want to miss. So are Broadway shows that are offering group discounts, while other are special events. One of the unique events involves the long run musical Rock of Ages, while the other focuses on one of Broadway’s most accomplished performers, Audra McDonald.

Rock On!

Rock of Ages has been selected to provide entertainment during Super Bowl week. On January 30 at 5 pm, they will perform on the Roman Numerals Stage of “Super Bowl Boulevard – Engineered by GMC” in Times Square. This is as part of the celebration for Super Bowl XLVIII. The performance will occur on Broadway and 43rd Street.

Then on Sunday, February 2, 2014, the cast will perform at the official NFL Tailgate Party outside of MetLife Stadium. That is Super Bowl Sunday. What a fantastic show for tailgate festivities and to pump everyone up for the big game!.

Audra McDonald will perform at Carnegie Hall on December 12, 2014. The five-time Tony winner will perform solo in the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Joining McDonald will be musical director Andy Einhorn. McDonald, who have been nominated for seven Tonys, won for Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, and Porgy and Bess. She recently play the Mother Abbess in the live televised production of The Sound of Music, in which Carrie Underwood starred as Maria. This is sure to be a magnificent performance.

Two major Broadway revivals will come to Broadway, as Alan Cumming reprises his Tony-winning role as the Emcee in a new production of the Kander and Ebb musical Cabaret. Playing Sally Bowles and making her Broadway debut will be Michelle Williams. The show begins previews in late March.

Previewing on March 1, 2014, and opening on March 23 is the revival of Les Misérables. The ultra-romantic musical premiered on Broadway almost 27 years ago, running from March 12, 1987 to May 18, 2003 and playing for 6,680 performances. It won 8 Tonys and 5 Drama Desk Awards. In 2006, it was revived and ran for 463 performances.

More new Broadway shows are being added weekly. Recently it was announced that Hollar If Ya Hear Me, the musical featuring songs and lyrics by Tupac Shakur and directed by the acclaimed Kenny Leon, will begin previews on May 26.
